After seeing Kate Hudson on the Rachel Zoe Project, and after RZ so eloquently said that Almost Famous “is everything”, I was re-inspired by Penny Lane’s looks for fall.  I’ve linked some pieces from my Etsy page so you can get an idea of the similar items I have in the shop

This coat is Penny Lane’s signature piece – she wears it throughout the whole movie and it really sums her up.  She threw this on over whatever she was wearing – whether it was a pair of bell bottoms, crochet dress, whatever.  Instant rock and roll, instant glam.  And the shearling/faux fur/suede thing is happening SO BIG right now, this is a super easy look to replicate today.

Penny love to show off her mid-section (and I mean…come on).  The boho embroidered tops are all over the place right now – from Forever 21 to Free People to, say, your local vintage store.  Also loving how she transitions her love of neutral suedes to this little mini skirt.  Pair something like this with some tights and some beat up cowboy boots in October….cozy and chic.

Sheer little blouses.  In every color!  To wear with everything!

Lacey lace lace and corduroys!   It’s all about proportion and texture. Always and forever.  If you’re not trying to show it all off (especially in the cooler months) take a page out of her book by layering a couple different length lacy tanks with a pair of high-waisted pants.  You’ll still get the look without sacrificing your modesty.  If, however, you’ve got a rockin’ Kate Hudson bod, by all means!

Loving – yet again – the play of proportion and texture here, especially with the layers. Little vintage bed jackets or old kimonos are great pieces to add to your wardrobe for this exact purpose.  Don’t confine them to the boudoir!  Nicole Richie knows how to rock them, and rock them well.

Such an easy, casual look that could be totally appropriate for a day of errands, an outdoor show or some lovely fall outing, like heading to the pumpkin patch or apple picking.  Or, ya know, being a groupie, riding around on a bus and being completely fabulous.

That hat? Major.  I could see my blessed jewel Laura Craig rocking this at the first sign of a snowflake.

I want those boots, please!  Also, love that mini.  How sick would it look with, say, a brown suede jacket with a shearling trim thrown over it???

What Penny Lane style element are you most excited to incorporate into your wardrobe for fall?
